Job Summary This position is responsible for the protection of AEP’s sensitive data through monitoring, configuration, investigation, and response. A specialist in this position will be responsible for creating, testing, and implementing data protection strategies and policies. A specialist will be responsible for data protection software deployment and remediation.
This position requires adherence to policy and regulation compliance as well as maintaining strict confidentiality and integrity. A specialist must also be willing to support the team through on-call rotation, change request representation (TOR and CAB), and collaboration with Security and Technology teams. Job Description What you’ll do: Essential Job Functions & Tasks Primary Responsibilities : DLP Monitoring Endpoint Cloud Email Network AI Prompt Inspection Data-At-Rest Protection Drive Encryption DLP Discover Removable Media Protection Data Classification Software Deployment and Remediation Policy/Rule Creation and Enhancements Policy Violation Investigations Data Loss Events Data Protection Collaboration and Consultation Project Strategy and Implementation Collaborative Partner Meetings (CIRC, E&C, HR, DPPG, and Technology Support Groups) Policy and Regulation Compliance (e.g., NERC, HIPAA, etc.) Policy and Software Troubleshooting ServiceNow Tickets Emergency Requests (e.g., Significant incidents, Major incidents, etc.) Phishing training and simulation Assist with AEP’s phishing testing and training Principal Accountabilities : Help coordinate some work assignments of lower-level teammates.
Contribute to the creation of a climate in which people want to do their best. Develop and present cyber security documents and reports clearly, concisely, and effective ly. Adjust delivery style to fit target audience. Identify , clarif y, resolve, and initiate solutions to cyber security problems requiring data analysis. Policy and Software Troubleshooting ServiceNow Tickets Emergency Requests (e.g., Significant incidents, Major incidents, etc.) Formulate questions and seek clarification before applying cyber security measures.
Produce status reports with minimal guidan ce from higher level teammate s. Maintain an awareness of time constraints for work activities; make appropriate adjustments when needed. Participate in team initiatives and meetings by preparing, making contributions and following through on agreements. P articipate in activities to ensure AEP follows laws, regulations and standards such as NERC CIP, SOX, Privacy, and PII .
Demonstrate the utmost flexibility and capability to switch from one activity to another on short notice. Willingness to work o vertime for incident response for security events. This posit ion may require some work outside of normal hours and being on call. Requirements - Other : Demonstrate knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines DLP Engineer Senior Cybersecurity Engineer – DLP Senior Data Loss Prevention Engineer DLP Analyst Data Loss Prevention Data Classification Data Protection Demonstrate cyber security-specific working knowledge of, or experience with, several of the items from the following list: Endpoint protection software and technologies UNIX/Linux command line operations Windows; Active Directory TCP/IP Scripting / development using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
Demonstrate knowledge of endpoint troubleshooting skills in Windows and/or Linux environments.
