Patient Care Technician – Medical ICU Patient Care Technician in Springfield, MA | Baystate Health Careers Department: Medical ICU Location: Baystate Medical Center, Springfield Massachusetts Job Type: Per Diem Shift: Night Make an Impact with Baystate Health Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our Medical ICU team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts .
Our Medical ICU team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care. Patient Care Technician Responsibilities Include: Patient Care & Monitoring: Provides safe, age-appropriate care; obtains and documents vital signs, measurements, intake/output, and changes in patient condition; promptly reports concerns to the appropriate clinical team member.
Clinical Procedures & Testing: Performs approved treatments and procedures, including dressing changes, specimen collection, EKGs, Point-of-Care testing, and other unit-specific clinical functions in accordance with Baystate Health policies. Treatment & Provider Support: Assists nurses and providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, elimination needs, and other delegated patient care activities; monitors patients and reports unexpected changes.
Communication & Teamwork: Communicates respectfully and effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team; recognizes culturally based needs and supports both clinical and non-clinical team activities. Patient Safety & Emergency Response: Maintains patient safety, initiates appropriate emergency procedures, provides one-to-one patient observation when required, and maintains required clinical competencies.
