A full-time position in Applied Mathematics and Statistics at Associate / Full professor Level or Professor of Practice - Teaching-Oriented Profile

FACULTY POSITION emlyon business school  invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, open at the Associate / Full Professor level, Teaching track, or as a Professor of Practice to begin in  September 2027. We are looking to recruit  either : A candidate with a  strong pedagogical profile , experienced in  action learning ,  experiential education , and  real-world project-based teaching ; Still with an academic research complementary profile , capable of publishing in peer-review academic journals and contributing to the school’s international research visibility.

Or A full teaching dedicated professor candidate with a  strong pedagogical profile , experienced in  action learning ,  experiential education , and  real-world project-based teaching ; This position is part of emlyon’s broader strategic ambition to combine  academic excellence  with  impactful, hands-on learning  that is deeply connected to the business world and societal challenges. YOUR ROLE AT EMLYON The selected candidate will join the Department (*) of  ODAI  and the possibility for joining (only for the associate / Full professor status) the  QUANT Research Centre  ( https://aim.em-lyon.com/quant/ ), contributing to: The development and delivery of  innovative, action-based learning experiences , closely tied to the professional ecosystem (corporates, startups, NGOs, etc.); And (if applicable) cutting-edge research in their area of expertise; Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate (BBA), graduate (Programme Grande École), and master's level programs.

Most courses will be taught on the  Lyon campus , with possible sessions on other emlyon campuses in France or internationally. The successful candidate will contribute to various courses at undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching is delivered in French and English to a diverse international, multicultural student cohort, depending on the program. The successful candidate will cover multiple aspects of mathematics and statistics needed for business to develop decisions aid-techniques, including data-driven decision processes, that could cover topics such as : Any fundamentals of Mathematics and Statistics at Management level, Mathematics and Statistics for data science, Mathematics and Statistics for modelisation and optimization in OM, and/or quantitative Finance fields for ex, Mathematics and Statistics to help developing basic of analytical approach.

Teaching-Oriented Profile Ph.D. in  Applied Mathematics or Statistics  or any related discipline Experience in  project-based pedagogy , live business cases, corporate challenges, or learning-by-doing models Strong connections with business or institutional partners Ability to design and coordinate courses with a high level of engagement and applied learning Willingness to contribute to the strategic positioning of action learning within the school Still contributing with intellectual contributions and academic publications.

Professor of Practice No PhD required, but a fully teaching-oriented profile and at least a master level Experience in  project-based pedagogy , live business cases, corporate challenges, or learning-by-doing models Strong connections with business or institutional partners Ability to design and coordinate courses with a high level of engagement and applied learning In French academic system, status as “PRAG” is for example a good fit here as a professor of Practice.
