Job Description Summary Join GE Vernova's Grid System Integration (GSI) Research and Innovation team as an Electrical Engineer focused on next-generation power conversion technologies. You will design, build, and validate advanced power electronics hardware, contributing directly to grid modernization solutions deployed globally. This hands-on R&D role offers the opportunity to innovate across the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept and simulation through prototyping and validation, within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering organization.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities In this role, you will: Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, specialists, and technicians to advance power conversion technology Design, simulate, and test power converter hardware using state-of-the-art engineering tools and methodologies Build and operate test setups for component validation and prototype demonstration Develop test plans and procedures for hardware performance validation Procure and maintain laboratory test equipment Partner with cross-functional teams across GE Vernova's Electrification Segment to align R&D efforts with product strategy Communicate project status and technical findings to internal and external stakeholders Engage with commercial, industrial, academic, and government partners to advance collaborative R&D initiatives Travel to GE Vernova and customer facilities as needed On-site position based in Niskayuna, New York We will not sponsor candidates for Visa for this role now or in the future.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 relevant industry experience (we will consider candidates with an Associate degree and 9 years of related experience). 5+ years of experience designing power electronics hardware Must be 18 years or older Preferred Qualifications Experience with 3D CAD modeling tools Background in R&D and product development environments Experience in manufacturing, testing, and certification of electrical hardware Proficiency with single-line diagrams and 3D CAD tools Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., PSpice, LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS) Knowledge of electrical safety standards, including PPE requirements and basic lifesaving rules Strong presentation, organizational, and analytical skills with attention to detail Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred Adaptable and collaborative in a fast-paced global team environment About Us: Come bring your energy to change the world!
