Exciting Career Opportunity Chief I Respiratory Physiologist Full-time (35 hours per week) | The Purpose of This Role: To strategically and operationally manage and develop Respiratory and sleep services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve Hospital objectives.

Candidate Criteria: Qualifications: Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) or Possess an equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8) as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS) or (a) Possess the Certificate in Medical Physics & Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology or (b) An equivalent scientific qualification as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science awarded in or before 2005 (See Note 1*) Key Responsibilities: The person holding this post is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree.

Manage the department by providing strategic, operational and clinical leadership, which results in the delivery of effective, efficient and patient centred Respiratory service. Lead, manage and motivate the Respiratory and Sleep team, ensuring optimum and effective use of staff and delegating responsibility and accountability as appropriate Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care, and set and monitor standards of practice Advise on equipment selection, purchase, replacement and upgrading Keep the Business Partner, Operations Officer, Respiratory Consultants and appropriate Heads of Department appraised of any significant development within your area of responsibility.

Formulate policies and selection, introduction and development of information and other systems for co-ordination of data collection, communication and management. Ensure that modern standards of clinical care are in operation and that regular monitoring is undertaken. Conduct the assigned respiratory and sleep tests to a high standard of safety adhering to departmental policies at all times. Conduct routine calibration, quality control and preventative maintenance Ensure staff are allocated to manage sleep tests and CPAP management Perform audits of the service, where required and be involved in quality improvement projects within the service Manage the orientation of new staff members and participate in and conduct performance review and development of assigned staff.

Participate in the preparation of plans for the service and monitor report on their implementation as required. Prepare annual financial estimates in respect of pay and non-pay resources and ensure expenditure is controlled within budget and identify potential for efficiency saving through improved practices and innovation.
