Job Description Summary We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Logistics to lead and develop our transportation and freight operations. The Director of Logistics reports to SureTree Logistics LLC, which is a member company of Evergreen Holdings. This role will oversee both self-performed logistics services and third-party carriers, manage a team including CDL drivers (local and OTR), a Logistics Supervisors, and a Coordinator, and play a critical role in shaping the future state of our logistics strategy.

 Job Description: Role & Responsibilities Develop a comprehensive logistics strategy that aligns with Evergreen Holdings growth goals, focusing on self-performed operations. Ensure the logistics operation can scale with the Evergreen Holdings member companies’ growth, including forecasting future needs for resources, infrastructure, and personnel.
Manage all inbound/outbound freight using both internal fleet and third-party providers. Lead and develop logistics personnel, including CDL Drivers, Supervisors, and Specialist to achieve operational goals and maintain high-performance standards aligned with our Core Values. Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and optimization of the company’s transportation fleet. Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal DOT regulations (FMCSA, HOS, etc.).
Collaborate with leadership to transition from baseline operations to expanded self-performed logistics. Develop and track KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost per mile, and fleet utilization. Lead and motivate the logistics team to achieve operational goals and maintain high performance. Ensure all team members adhere to internal and external safety standards and regulatory requirements. Identify potential risks (e.g., supply chain disruptions, accidents) and develop contingency plans.
Regularly review and refine logistics processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Analyze logistics data to drive cost savings, improve service, and enhance decision-making. Manage budgets, vendor billing, expenses, and evaluate ROI on logistics investments. Utilize ERP and TMS systems for logistics coordination, reporting, and planning. Maintain fleet safety, driver records, maintenance schedules, and audit readiness.
Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years in logistics/transportation management, including fleet operations and CDL driver oversight. Proven experience balancing self-performed and 3PL (Third Party Logistics) services. Strong working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA compliance and safety programs.
Proficient with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and logistics platforms. Business-savvy with the ability to manage budgets and drive operational ROI. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Certifications Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation & Distribution) OSHA/DOT Safety Training Physical Requirements This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines. This position requires the ability to lift files and open file cabinets. Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, and occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch. This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
