At JBT Marel, cybersecurity and regulatory compliance are becoming increasingly important as we continue to transform the future of food processing. We are looking for a Controls Software Engineer with a strong interest in industrial cybersecurity and compliance to support our Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) initiatives while contributing to the development of our automation platform based on Allen-Bradley technology.
This role combines hands-on controls engineering with research, analysis, and implementation of cybersecurity requirements across our equipment portfolio. . 🔍 About the Role As our new Controls Software Engineer – Cybersecurity & CRA Compliance, you will work at the intersection of industrial automation, software engineering, and cybersecurity compliance. You will support the assessment and implementation of Cyber Resilience Act requirements across JBT Marel equipment while contributing to the development and maintenance of PLC and HMI software solutions.
You will collaborate closely with Controls Engineers, Product Development, Cybersecurity, Quality, Compliance, and external technology partners to ensure our solutions meet both customer expectations and emerging regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys both technical problem-solving and investigative work, translating regulations into practical engineering standards and solutions.
🧠 What You’ll Do Your responsibilities will include: Support the investigation and interpretation of Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) requirements applicable to JBT Marel equipment. Assess and document technical, software, process, and lifecycle requirements needed to achieve CRA compliance. Perform gap analyses between existing machine designs, software architectures, and CRA requirements. Develop implementation guidelines, standards, and engineering best practices related to cybersecurity and compliance.
Support the definition of cybersecurity requirements for hardware, software, industrial networks, remote access, and maintenance activities. Participate in risk assessments and contribute to compliance documentation and technical evidence packages. Engage with technology vendors and suppliers to evaluate cybersecurity capabilities, compliance readiness, and supporting documentation. Collaborate with engineering, automation, quality, cybersecurity, and regulatory teams across the organization.
Analyze requirements and translate them into practical software and engineering solutions. Develop, maintain, and improve PLC and HMI software for Allen-Bradley-based equipment. Maintain technical expertise within industrial automation, cybersecurity, and regulatory developments.
