Senior Software Engineer - Release & Platform Engineering

About This Role Release Engineering is OutSystems' is a Platform Engineering function. The group owns the platform's build and deployment orchestration, empowering product and development teams to focus on delivering business value. North Star: to empower teams to focus on delivering business value, by creating a zero-touch, secure, reliable, and cutting-edge technology platform capable of orchestrating full build and production deployment processes.

The group is organized into small, autonomous squads. Release Engineers work across the full software delivery lifecycle — from CI/CD and containerization to cloud infrastructure and release governance — and act as a trusted point of support for engineering teams across the company via the group's dedicated support channels. This is a hybrid role: part software engineer, part cloud/infrastructure engineer, and part release governance owner.

Key Responsibilities • CI/CD ownership: Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps Pipelines and GitHub Actions workflows) that power build, test, and deployment automation across OutSystems services.

• Container & image management: Maintain and secure the Docker base-image catalogue (ingestion, versioning, deprecation, scanning) and manage AMI/machine-image pipelines (Packer, EC2 Image Builder) for build and CI infrastructure. • Cloud infrastructure: Manage and provision cloud resources across AWS (ECR, EC2, IAM/OIDC) and Azure (ACR, Azure DevOps), using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform via Spacelift).

• Versioning & packaging: Own semantic versioning and package management practices (GitVersion, SemVer, NuGet feeds) to keep releases consistent and traceable. • Release governance: Operate release governance processes, including RFC/CAB change management, deployment gating, and rollback procedures for production changes. • Operational support: Staff the Release Engineering support rotation, triaging and resolving developer requests and incidents raised through dedicated support channels.

• Monitoring & metrics: Build and maintain observability into pipelines and deployments using tools such as Grafana, Power BI, and Kibana. • Security & compliance: Uphold security and compliance standards (SOC 2 and FedRAMP controls, vulnerability scanning via Wiz/Snyk) across the release pipeline. • Leadership & enablement: As seniority grows, guide other engineers, mentor teams adopting CI platform/release best practices, and represent Release Engineering's roadmap to stakeholders across the company.

Skills You Need to Succeed Skills below are ranked by how central they are to day-to-day Release Engineering work. Must-haves are used constantly and span nearly every squad; good-to-haves add significant value but are more specialized or team-specific and can often be developed on the job. MUST HAVES: CI/CD pipelines: Azure DevOps Pipelines and GitHub Actions — designing, debugging, and maintaining build/release workflows.

OCI Lifecycle: Development and management of the full life cycle of OCI artifacts. Cloud platform fundamentals: AWS (ECR, IAM/OIDC, EC2, RDS) and Azure (ACR,Azure Machines and DBs, Azure DevOps) core services. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Image Building: Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation for cloud provisioning and experience with Packer and EC2 Image Builder are must-have skills. Ownership under pressure: A strong sense of urgency, customer focus, and reliability as a support point for other engineering teams.

GOOD TO HAVES: Git workflows & semantic versioning: Branching strategies, tagging, GitVersion/SemVer discipline, and NuGet/npm fee
