This is a high-profile leadership role with accountability for the strategic direction, performance and reputation of Bank of Scotland’s commercial banking franchise across Scotland, spanning SME, Business Banking and Mid Market clients-businesses with turnover of up to £500m.
The Mound in Edinburgh is the registered office and Scottish headquarters of Lloyds Banking Group, and colleagues across Bank of Scotland, Scottish Widows and the wider Group serve customers and communities throughout Scotland. As our senior commercial banking leader and ambassador in Scotland, you’ll build on that unique position to create and own the market strategy, mobilise colleagues and partnerships, and drive sustainable growth towards our 2030 ambition.
Role Purpose To provide unified regional direction across SME, Business Banking and Mid-Corporate, delivering sustainable growth, strong client outcomes and disciplined risk management, while protecting the Group’s culture and reputation in Scotland. What you’ll be doing Regional strategy, market leadership & external presence Act as Bank of Scotland’s senior commercial banking representative and figurehead across Scotland.
Create, own and execute an integrated regional strategy across SME, Business Banking and Mid Market, covering businesses with turnover of up to £500m. Build and maintain influential relationships with key clients, government bodies, regulators, industry organisations and strategic partners. Represent the needs of the Scottish market within Group and Business leadership forums. Champion the Bank of Scotland brand, heritage and external profile, strengthening its position as the bank for Scottish business and building momentum towards becoming Scotland’s number one commercial bank by 2030.
Commercial performance & financial leadership Hold end-to-end accountability for regional financial performance, including income growth, profitability, deposits, lending and balance sheet performance. Deliver sustainable commercial growth while maintaining strong cost discipline. Drive sales effectiveness, origination excellence and performance management through regional leadership teams.
Establish clear objectives and governance frameworks to ensure consistent performance delivery and accountability. Clients, risk & reputation Lead the delivery of excellent client outcomes and a consistent client experience across all segments. Maintain accountability for regional credit quality, risk management and conduct standards. Make complex commercial and risk judgements in line with the Group’s risk appetite.
Embed a strong risk culture that balances growth ambitions with prudent decision-making. Leadership, talent & culture Provide visible and inspirational leadership across Scotland. Lead, coach and develop senior leaders and relationship teams, creating a high-performance culture. Build succession pipelines and future leadership capability. Champion inclusion, engagement, wellbeing and colleague development across the region.
