Vantor is seeking an Operations Support Engineer to join a mission-focused technical operations team supporting satellite ground systems and 24x7 operational readiness.
This role is heavily focused on scheduling backend ground systems and antenna resources, monitoring system health, and coordinating anomaly response. You will partner with customers, vendors, service owners, engineering teams, and operations leadership to improve system reliability, operator readiness, and mission outcomes. Responsibilities Schedule and coordinate backend ground systems, antennas, and related resources with external vendors to meet mission contact requirements and operational priorities.
Provide operational coverage through a rotating schedule that includes day, swing, overnight, weekend, and standard office-hour shifts. Monitor system health and analyze telemetry and operational data to identify anomalies, validate equipment performance, and determine appropriate escalation paths. Coordinate with vendors, service owners, and engineering teams to investigate and resolve hardware, software, antenna, and system-integration issues.
Track investigations, maintenance activities, corrective actions, system degradations, upgrades, and operational risks through resolution. Develop and maintain metrics, reports, and dashboards covering ground system and antenna availability, contact performance, data capture, and other key operational indicators. Develop and improve operational tools, cloud-based capabilities, processes, procedures, and technical documentation that strengthen efficiency, reliability, situational awareness, and operator readiness.
Minimum Qualifications U.S. citizenship and willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; four additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues and investigate unfamiliar technical problems. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, customers, and external vendors in a time-sensitive operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications One or more years of experience with satellite operations, satellite ground systems, antennas, or antenna-associated ground equipment. Experience scheduling ground systems, antenna resources, mission contacts, or other operationally constrained technical resources. Proficiency in Linux-based operating environments and experience with Python, Ruby, Java, or a similar programming or scripting language.
Experience with AWS cloud architecture or cloud-based operational systems. Familiarity with Kibana, Elasticsearch, GitHub, or CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, Travis CI, or Team Foundation Server.
