This position is in the Nurse Family Partnership program of the Health Department located in Clinton Twp FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Overtime pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to a probationary period CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is 8:30 a.m. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under direction, provides direct nursing services in a clinical, geographic or programmatic area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direct nursing care in an assigned area, using appropriate authorized nursing skills. Teaches, consults and acts as public health resource person to individuals, families, community groups and other health care professionals. Documents appropriate data, activities and outcomes in the client records, utilizing the required recording format. Works with clients to assess their needs, provide information or assistance and resolve problems.
Assists in coordinating the activities of an assigned clinic and/or program area. Participates on selected agency committees as directed. Participates in the orientation of staff. Generates, evaluates and chooses the best alternative in order to make a determination, draw conclusions or solve a problem. Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education and Experience Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse, or be in the process of securing Michigan licensure Minimum of one (1) year of professional nursing experience Preferred Education and Experience Previous public health or community health nursing experience is preferred COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES: Knowledge of: Nursing principles and practices, and also assigned clinical or programmatic practices Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other technology applications.
Skill in: Effective written and oral communication skills Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem solving skills Ability to: Communicate highly complex information to people with varying levels of knowledge Effectively speak, write and understand the English language Speak and understand a language other than English (Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian) is preferred.
