A Box Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a box truck to transport and deliver goods to customers, businesses, and designated locations. Services may include deliveries inside customers' homes and range from dropping at the front door to white glove service with room of choice and assembly of product. The driver loads and unloads cargo, completes required delivery documentation, and provides professional customer service.
#indeed Key Responsibilities Safely operate a box truck on assigned local and regional routes. Basic hand tool usage and assembly skills Pick up and deliver products, packages, equipment, or materials according to assigned routes and schedules. Load, unload, and secure cargo to prevent shifting, loss, or damage during transit. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety issues.
Follow applicable traffic laws, DOT regulations, company policies, and customer-site requirements. Maintain accurate delivery records, receipts, inspection documents, and other required paperwork. Communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and leadership regarding deliveries, delays, route changes, and vehicle issues. Verify orders, freight condition, and delivery quantities before completing deliveries.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle and work area. Assist with warehouse, material-handling, or loading duties when required. Qualifications & Skills Valid driver's license (REAL ID) and acceptable driving record required. Previous box truck, delivery, or commercial driving experience preferred. Ability to read maps, use navigation tools, and maintain general geographic awareness.
Ability to accurately complete delivery documentation and operational records. Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision. Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules when required. Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Must be able to pass Federal background checks for access to Military and Gov’t facilities. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent entering and exiting of the vehicle, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday. Employees must be able to lift and move products weighing up to 75 lbs. unassisted and safely load, unload, and secure freight.
Safety Expectations Employees are expected to comply with all company safety policies, applicable DOT requirements, OSHA standards, TSA requirements where applicable, and customer-site safety rules. Employees must immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, equipment damage, cargo damage, and regulatory concerns.
