The Bureau of Human Resources is accepting applications to establish a register to fill a vacancy at the Maine State Prison, Warren. This position specifically handles purchasing & procurement for MSP/BCF. Correctional Trades Supervisor oversees inventory functionality for facility warehouse & supervises four employees assigned to said warehouse.

This is the structure and craft work of a supervisory nature, directing and overseeing a correctional trade's on-the-job training program at a correctional facility. Work includes coordinating and overseeing a staff, teaching resident workers, inspecting work, and submitting progress reports. Work is performed under limited supervision. This position will be responsible for supporting purchasing/procurement efforts.

Typical Duties: Coordinates and directs the operation of a correctional trades on-the-job training program in order to teach residents a trade and complete projects at a correctional facility. Estimates and orders materials needed in order to complete the facility projects & daily operations. Tracks perpetual inventory for warehouse items. Follow state procurement purchasing guidelines & processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   Knowledge of correctional trades program goals and objectives Knowledge of accepted principles, practices, techniques, and materials used in the specified trade. Knowledge of correctional security procedures. Knowledge of inventory tracking & processes. Ability to plan, assign, and evaluate the work of subordinate workers. Ability to estimate item needs within facility in order to ensure product availability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four (4) years of education, training, and/or experience in the specified trade to include one (1) year of experience supervising the work of tradespeople   Licensing Requirement:  Some positions may require special licenses/certifications in the specified trade.
