Job Description Montgomery College , Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus is seeking two (2) outstanding full-time Health Information Management faculty members beginning January 2027. We are seeking enthusiastic professionals with a strong commitment to health science education and the ability to motivate and engage students to succeed. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, working in a multi-cultural environment, commitment to the community college mission, and have effective oral and written communication skills.
Outstanding candidates with a passion for teaching are particularly encouraged to apply to join the dedicated faculty of the Allied Health Sciences Department. Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses, and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of these campuses and teach online.
Duties include but are not limited to: Teach a variety of courses within the Health Information Management program. Teach 30 semester hours per academic year (mid-August through May, in accordance with AAUP collective bargaining). Opportunities may exist to teach summer classes. Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.
Follow guidelines from program director to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections of a course. Provide support to the program director and clinical coordinator as needed. Engage in continuing education for the maintenance of credentials and accreditation requirements. Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students, participate in course and program assessment, and maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning.
Faculty may be assigned non-instructional duties in place of course instruction. Required Qualifications: Master's Degree in Health Information Management , Health Administration or related. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification. Two (2) years professional experience in health information management, health informatics or related experience.
Experience integrating technology into course delivery including use of a Learning Management System and utilizing Zoom for synchronous remote course delivery. Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment. Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues. Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship .
Preferred Qualifications: CCS, CCS- P or CPC certification in medical coding. Prior teaching experience in Health Information Management or related Evidence of commitment to professional development and scholarly activities.
