As the Sr. Category Manager – Specialty Materials, you will support and execute sourcing strategies for highly specialized and regulated material categories, with an initial focus on biologics, animal tissue, collagen, xenograft-derived materials, and other specialty materials. In this role, you will help manage a complex and strategically important supply base where tissue source availability, biologic material requirements, supplier controls, quality systems, regulatory expectations, technical capability, and continuity of supply directly impact patient care, product availability, and business continuity.
You will partner closely with Operating Units, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Technical Sourcing, Supply Network, and supplier partners to execute category strategies, negotiate supplier agreements, mitigate risk, and drive cost optimization. As a Senior Category Manager, you will develop and execute sourcing strategies for specialty material categories while balancing supply continuity, cost, quality, regulatory, and business requirements.
You will work across functions to manage supplier performance, assess market and supply chain risks, negotiate agreements, and support sourcing decisions for complex and regulated materials. Primary Responsibilities Develop and execute category strategies for biologics, animal tissue, collagen, xenograft-derived materials, and other specialty material categories. Manage supplier relationships and performance to support quality, delivery, cost, compliance, and business continuity objectives.
Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing structures, capacity commitments, and commercial terms aligned with organizational goals. Analyze market conditions, supplier capabilities, supply constraints, sub-tier dependencies, and risk factors to inform sourcing decisions and category plans. Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, inflation mitigation, supplier development, process optimization, and value improvement.
Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Research and Development, and Technical Sourcing teams to support supplier qualification, audits, validations, traceability, and change management activities. Monitor supplier capacity, material availability, inventory considerations, and regulatory requirements to help ensure continuity of supply for critical product portfolios. Utilize spend analytics, supplier scorecards, contract data, and business intelligence tools to prioritize initiatives, measure performance, and support strategic decision-making.
