What You’ll Do As a full-stack SDET-2 with a specialization in backend systems, you will play a pivotal role within the GCI team, collaborating closely with Engineers to enhance the development and quality of our products.
Your contributions will directly influence the expansion of testing and automation across multiple facets of the business. In this role, you will: Design and Implement Automation Frameworks: Build and continuously improve scalable, reusable backend automation test frameworks to support multiple services. Own Backend and API Automation: Ensure comprehensive end-to-end automation coverage for backend systems, APIs, and service-level interactions, validating data flows and service integrations.
Extend UI Automation: Maintain and expand UI automation for customer-facing workflows to ensure seamless user experiences. Collaborate Across Teams: Actively participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle. Investigate and Resolve Failures: Analyze complex failures across distributed systems, perform root cause analysis, and provide actionable recommendations for fixes.
Proactively Identify Risks: Challenge assumptions, identify systemic quality risks, and advocate for improvements to ensure robust and reliable systems. Own Test Strategy: Take full ownership of the squad’s test strategy, ensuring comprehensive coverage and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Performance and Load Testing: Define and execute performance and load tests to validate system behaviour under concurrent load and ensure scalability.
What You’ll Bring Extensive Experience: 5+ years of expertise in backend, frontend, and functional testing, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results. Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Java and Maven, including experience with multi-module backend test automation frameworks. API and Service Testing: Hands-on experience with REST API testing, including contract validation, status codes, authentication flows, error handling, and ensuring cross-service data consistency.
Testing Frameworks: Strong in JUnit 5 and REST Assured for building robust API and integration test suites with lifecycle management and tagging. Performance Testing: Skilled in using K6 for performance and load testing to ensure system reliability under varying workloads. End-to-End Testing: Expertise in achieving comprehensive coverage across full user workflows, multiple services, and diverse environments.
Data-Driven Testing: Experience with JSON-driven, parameterized testing scenarios from external files to maximize coverage while minimizing code duplication. Cloud Expertise: Familiarity with AWS, including database validation,
