Find your next opportunity today! Description of Work This position is assigned to an adult inpatient unit at Cherry Hospital. The patient care units serve chronically mentally ill adults who exhibit behavioral problems that interfere with their ability to function safely in a less restrictive environment. Behavioral problems treated on this unit may include, but are not limited to: aggression, hostility, non-compliance, self-injurious behaviors, mood lability, psychotic thinking, and property destruction.
This unit specializes in the treatment and rehabilitation of these patients. Treatment modalities employed include psychopharmacology, behavior therapy, milieu therapy, group therapy, and individual therapy, social and adaptive living skills training. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide direct psychological services within the Patient Care Units. This work includes emergency services, diagnostic evaluations, capacity restoration services, group and individual therapy services, and other treatment services for severely disturbed adults who reside in the eastern region of the state.
The position may also provide supervision to Licensed Psychological Associates and practicum students/interns. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Knowledge of core areas of normal and abnormal psychology include perception, motivation, development, learning, the biological bases of behavior, and psychotherapy. Skill in the provision of comprehensive psychological evaluations using objective and projective measures.
Skill in providing an array of therapeutic interventions for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Knowledge of mental health systems and ability to integrate treatment resources. Ability to supervise master's degree level graduate psychology students and master's degree level psychological associates. This position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.
State Human Resources Act (GS 126) This Position Is Designated as Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events. *Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if: The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the
