Job Description Overview You’ll play a key role in delivering projects within our Building Structures team in Yorkshire and the Northeast, taking responsibility for both design and project delivery across a varied client base. Join our established team based in Leeds and Newcastle. We are keen to establish a structural presence in our Stockton office with this appointment, but the chosen engineer will be very much working as part of the Yorkshire and Northeast team, delivering a diverse and exciting portfolio of projects across Yorkshire, the Northeast and beyond. Our Yorkshire and Northeast team is involved in a vast array of work, including Industrial and Commercial developments, Education schemes, Asset Inspections, complex Refurbishments, Civil Infrastructure, Power, Defense, Rail and large-scale Mixed-use projects.
You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging and varied schemes, working alongside experienced engineers and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions. Your role As a Structural Engineer, you will: Apply engineering knowledge across a range of building structures projects, apply technical skills to a wide range of building structures and design scenarios.
Support project delivery from concept through to detailed design. Contribute to innovative and sustainable design solutions. Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams. Engage with clients and stakeholders on live projects. Develop conceptual solutions through to detailed design stages. Assist in delivering projects within defined programme and cost parameters. Contribute to the multi-disciplinary team approach on projects.
Undertake research, data collection, and presentation of findings. Present results to clients under supervision of a lead designer. Present findings and solutions through excellent written communication and report writing. Represent AtkinsRéalis at site visits and design team meetings. Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance procedures. Work in accordance with BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work, and BIM Execution Plans.
Support and mentor junior or less experienced team members. Maintain and develop a broad technical skillset. Demonstrate proactive commitment to self-development. About you You’ll bring a strong technical foundation along with a proactive and collaborative approach: Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Graduate Member of a relevant professional body (IStructE or ICE). Working towards, and be close to achieving Chartered status, or has recently achieved Chartership status.
Experience designing with traditional materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) to Eurocodes. Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g. Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, Revit – desirable). Willingness to learn and adopt new tools and technologies. Interest in digital engineering, automation, and parametric design. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
