Torch Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join our team in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Modeling & Simulation (M&S) System Integration team.
Working under the guidance of senior software and systems engineers, you will help develop and implement practical, user-focused automation solutions that make our multi-disciplinary teams more efficient and better connected. In this complementary role, you will assist in developing, testing, and maintaining low-code applications, business workflows, and collaboration environments across platforms like the Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, and the Atlassian Suite.
You will be hands-on in building the tools that manage critical operational data—such as asset allocation, task tracking, travel tracking, and personnel workflows. Furthermore, you will actively leverage emerging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate your learning, optimize code, and support the team's delivery timeline. As a Software Engineer I, your duties will include, but are not limited to Solution Development: Assist in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions, scripts, and workflows using Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online, ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence.
Workflow Automation: Build and configure automated processes for data extraction, reporting, and task tracking to reduce manual effort across business operations. User Interface Design: Develop intuitive front-ends and forms based on UI mockups and guidance provided by senior team members. Systems Integration: Support the integration of software tools by executing technical tasks and building out configurations defined by the Systems Engineering team and Senior Software Engineers.
Site & Environment Maintenance: Update and maintain functional SharePoint sites and Confluence spaces. Implement content structures, libraries, lists, and permission schemes as directed. Platform Monitoring: Perform routine checks on automation tools and collaboration solutions for performance, reliability, and data quality, reporting issues to senior team members for troubleshooting. Compliance & Security: Follow established DoD/MDA security protocols to ensure automated processes and collaboration environments maintain data accuracy and secure access control.
AI-Assisted Development: Utilize AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini) to assist with code generation, basic debugging, and formatting documentation. Technical Documentation: Draft clear, maintainable code comments, configuration notes, and user guides to support team documentation efforts. Stakeholder Engagement: Actively participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and technical interchange meetings to report progress and learn from cross-functional teams.
Job Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience. 0+ years of applicable software engineering, business process automation, or software development experience (relevant internships, co-ops, or academic project experience will be considered). Ability to obtain and maintain a sec
