USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub app The Criminology/Criminal Justice Programs at Plymouth State University invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Practice in Criminology/Criminal Justice , beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will join a collaborative faculty delivering high quality face to face education in an undergraduate setting.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, advising and mentoring students, engaging in university and professional service, and working with community partners. The standard workload is 85% teaching, 15% service. About Criminology/Criminal Justice The Criminology/Criminal Justice programs oversee a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and an Applied Bachelor’s in Police Studies.

We also provide coursework to Conservation Law Enforcement and Forensic Science majors. Our in-person learning environment emphasizes active engagement, reflection, collaboration, and practical application. Students learn through independent work, group projects, discussion, presentations, and innovative hands-on experiences. Our programs emphasize evidence-informed practice, ethical decision making, and practical skill application.

Faculty equip, support, and challenge students to develop the knowledge and skills needed for professional practice. Community partnerships, professional collaborations, and interdisciplinary learning further enrich the educational experience. The Programs regularly seek feedback from students, alumni, adjunct faculty, and community partners and use that feedback, along with other program data, to evaluate and continuously improve our curriculum and educational practices.

Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Teach 15-16 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in Criminology/Criminal Justice, including Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Advise up to 30 undergraduate Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police Studies, and Conservation Law Enforcement students Participate in university, professional, and community service activities Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with community partners throughout New Hampshire Oversee the Criminal Justice internship program Contribute to curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement Incorporate evidence-informed practices, critical thinking, and real-world professional applications into teaching and student learning Support innovative, experiential, and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning Minimum Qualifications Masters degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related Discipline JD and ABD will be considered Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching with evidence from colleagues and students Skills in academic advising and mentoring students Innovative, student-driven, and possessing strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to teach multiple core courses in the criminology and criminal justice program Ability to contribute to program and university service, and to engage with the discipline and the community Additional Desirable Qualifications PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline Expertise in Conservation Law Enforcement and/or Environmental Crime Experience developing or maintaining partnerships with internship sites Experience with experiential, hands-on, or innovative approaches to teaching Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration or community-engaged learning.
