Job Description Summary Veradigm is looking for a Director, Technical Accounting to serve as a hands-on technical accounting expert within our Accounting team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Assistant Controller, this role owns the accounting for our most complex and judgment-intensive areas while also acting as a go-to resource across the full range of technical accounting matters that surface in a public healthcare technology company.
This role requires a self-starter who can identify issues, research them independently, and drive them to resolution with minimal oversight. It carries direct exposure to senior finance leadership and our external auditors. Serve as the primary technical accounting owner for the company's most complex and judgment-intensive areas, including but not limited to investments, goodwill, intangibles, debt and equity transactions, stock-based compensation, capitalized software, and leases, both preparing and reviewing well-supported memos on issues as they arise across the business Coordinate with external valuation specialists as needed to support impairment assessments and other fair value analyses Monitor the accounting standard-setting landscape, assess the applicability and impact of new and proposed pronouncements (ASUs), and lead cross-functional implementation efforts, including drafting adoption memos and updating accounting policies Establish, maintain, and periodically refresh the Company's technical accounting policies, ensuring they remain current with GAAP and reflect how the business actually operates Be a proactive, credible liaison with external auditors, anticipating questions, bringing issues forward early, and driving timely closure of open items rather than waiting for audit inquiries Partner with FP&A, Legal, HR, and others as a trusted advisor on the accounting implications of new transactions, arrangements, and strategic initiatives Identify and lead process improvements that scale and strengthen the technical accounting process, including incorporating AI tools to streamline research, drafting, and documentation Maintain and strengthen internal controls for areas of responsibility, ensuring SOX requirements are consistently met Draft and review financial statement disclosures for complex areas to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements Supervise, coach, and review the work of team members as needed, applying critical review and ensuring documentation is complete, well-supported, and audit-ready Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting CPA required 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, which may be a combination of public accounting (Big 4 or large national firm) and public company experience, with public accounting experience required as part of that background Track record of independently researching and authoring detailed, well-reasoned technical accounting memos that hold up under audit scrutiny Experience monitoring and leading implementation of new accounting pronouncements, from initial impact assessment through policy and process changes A genuine self-starter, comfortable identifying issues proactively, working through ambiguity, and driving matters to resolution with minimal oversight Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly, in both writing and conversation, to audiences with varying levels of technical fluency Strong to advanced Excel skills Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, public company environment Compensation for this job is subject to market conditions, geographic considerations, the candidate’s unique skills and experience, state and local laws, and budget.
