Senior titles, junior jobs
Sometimes a posting calls itself senior while the role is a first job, or reaches for ‘guru’ where ‘specialist’ would do. We look for titles that claim rank or stature the rest of the posting does not support — and we count only what we can defend from the text.

What counts as title inflation?
Two things: rank language applied to roles with no people or scope (lead, senior, sr), and hype language standing in for a real title (guru, maestro, ninja, evangelist, maven, wrangler).
Why is the share only 0.1%?
Because we count only cases we can defend from the posting text. A looser keyword count would produce a bigger and weaker number — we would rather under-claim.
Is an inflated title a scam?
No. It is usually enthusiastic copywriting, and sometimes a small team giving a real job a grander name. We measure the language, not the intent.
