Academic Mentor Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby is passionate about learning in its widest sense. Our mission is to ensure that our pupils value and enjoy their learning inside and outside the classroom. The ADAPT and THRIVE provisions are two of our alternative pathways and a fundamental part of our pastoral support. The provisions support KS4 / KS3 learners, who have a variety of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and require a more bespoke environment to access a broad and balanced curriculum.
Aims of Post of Responsibility : The Academic Mentor will provide academic support, both within the classroom and as part of targeted intervention sessions, to pupils attending our ADAPT and THRIVE provision. All pupils in this provision have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Some pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Hours: 35 hours per week (8.00-15.30), Term time only Salary: Grade 4, Point 5. All staff, whether paid or voluntary, have a duty to keep young people safe and to protect them from physical harm. When an individual accepts a role that involves working with children and young people they need to understand and acknowledge that the responsibilities and trust are inherent in that role. All posts working with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check (including a check of the Children’s Barred List) and the required safer recruitment checks.
On-line checks will be carried out on all shortlisted candidates and all shortlisted candidates will be required to complete and submit a criminal self-disclosure form prior to interview. All applicants need to have the Right to Work in the UK to be considered for the role. ID checks (including photographic) will be carried out at the interview stage. References will be taken up prior to interview.
