Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accountant for a luxury hotel based in Hermanus; Western Cape . This position suited to a detail-oriented finance professional with strong accounting knowledge, excellent Excel skills and a solid understanding of financial controls. Previous experience within a hotel, resort or hospitality environment would be highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day accounting function and oversee the Stock Controller.
Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and month-end reporting. Assist with annual budgets, forecasts and business planning. Reconcile bank accounts, cash, credit card transactions and petty cash. Monitor daily revenue and night-audit procedures, investigating and resolving discrepancies. Manage debtors, including receipting payments, statements, reconciliations and outstanding account follow-ups.
Oversee creditors, supplier reconciliations and payment processes. Monitor inventory, operational equipment and regular stock counts. Analyse stock variances, gross profit and F&B performance. Prepare trading summaries and other operational finance reports. Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures are maintained. Liaise closely with hotel management and the central finance team.
Requirements Accounting degree or relevant tertiary financial qualification preferred. Minimum 2 years' General Ledger and high-volume accounting experience . Previous hotel or resort accounting experience advantageous. Strong financial analysis and reporting ability. High level of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong organisational skills and ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
Systems Experience with the following would be advantageous: Xero Opera MyMicros / Symphony / MyInventory Standard Bank Business Online Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook This role would suit a hands-on accountant who enjoys working within an operational hospitality environment and is comfortable partnering closely with hotel management while taking ownership of the property's finance function.
