Accounting Manager

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit in the Portland area, needs an experienced Accounting Manager for an ongoing temporary opportunity. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys staying close to the numbers, taking ownership of the close, and being a trusted accounting resource to leadership.As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for:Reviewing account activity and providing oversight across the accounting functionCompleting month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliationsPreparing financial statements and monthly reporting for leadershipMonitoring budget activity and explaining revenue and expense variancesSupporting audit preparation and responding to auditor requestsReviewing payroll, banking activity, and fund transfersProviding guidance on accounting questions, internal controls, and special projectsThis position is approximately 20 to 25 hours per week, offers flexibility, and will be completed in the organization's Portland-area office.

You will work alongside a knowledgeable accounting professional and partner closely with an approachable leadership team that values collaboration.To be considered for this position, you should have:Bachelor's degree in AccountingNonprofit accounting experienceStrong month-end close, reconciliation, and financial reporting experienceQuickBooks experienceIntermediate Excel skillsThe confidence to work independently while also being a collaborative and supportive partnerThis is an opportunity to bring your accounting expertise to an organization doing meaningful work in the community.
