Activity Worker (Ellis Ward)

We are seeking individuals who are friendly, approachable, compassionate and motivated with good communication skills. Our aim is to recruit the best Activity Coordinator so that we can support you to develop and provide the best patient care. Candidates should demonstrate some experience providing care and arranging activities either on a professional or informal basis. You will receive ongoing support from your peers, ward/team manager and matron.

You will also receive individual supervision as well as support in reflective practice groups. As an Activity Coordinator you will be expected: · To work with the ward Occupational Therapist (OT) as well as other members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver a programme of creative and social activities. Duties will include the direct provision of group activity and one to one activity with clients on the ward or community settings as appropriate.

· To provide information to clients about the ward routine and to ensure clients access information appropriately. · To work flexibly to meet service and client need. · To plan, provide and evaluate activities for individual/groups of clients based on client need and in discussion with the multidisciplinary team. · To provide feedback to the ward manager and team with regard to progress. In addition to the group programme the post holder will assist with one-to-one individual sessions with clients where required under the guidance of the senior /ward occupational therapist.

· To contribute in planning meetings and handover of information to ensure that important information is relayed and clinical care is adjusted appropriately. Plan, organise, and facilitate structured and meaningful activities for patients, including arts and crafts, music, exercise, relaxation sessions, and social events. Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists and other professionals to ensure activities align with individual care plans and recovery goals.

Encourage patient participation and adapt activities to meet diverse needs, abilities, and cultural backgrounds. Maintain accurate records of attendance and engagement, contributing to care documentation and outcome monitoring. Support patients in developing confidence, skills, and routines that aid transition back to community living. Ensure activities are delivered in a safe, inclusive, and therapeutic environment, adhering to risk management protocols.

Assist in evaluating and improving the activity program based on patient feedback and service priorities. · To work with members of the team to plan a culturally sensitive programme of activities to encourage engagement, promote enjoyment and alleviate boredom. · To engage clients in the design and evaluation of the activity programme. · To facilitate groups on the ward as identified in the activity programme of social and creative activities to an identified client group. · To work with the Occupational Therapist to identify other contributors to the activities programme e.g.
