What You Will Do The person in this position provides personalized service to students and other clients of the University, by telephone, email and in person , facilitating the conduct of various student business including application for admission, registration, schedule changes, withdrawal, application for graduation, request for transcripts, etc.
This person serves as the primary source of information for clients inside and outside the University who contact the Service Center by phone and email ; provides secretarial, clerical and data entry support for the Service Center; and performs other duties as needed. What You Will Do The person in this position provides personalized service to students and other clients of the University, mainly by telephone, facilitating the conduct of various student business including application for admission, registration, schedule changes, withdrawal, application for graduation, request for transcripts, etc.
This person serves as the primary source of information for clients inside and outside the University who contact the Service Center by phone; provides secretarial, clerical and data entry support for the Service Center; and performs other duties as needed. FLSA: Non-Exempt Minimum Acceptable Qualifications CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER High school diploma or equivalent. Any one or combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the categories below: -Coursework in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) -Work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience.
This position requires excellent knowledge of SIUE, its academic programs, support services, policies and procedures, organizational structure and the functions of various offices. Knowledge of the SIUE computerized student information system and skill in the rapid and accurate operation of data entry machinery is needed. Interpersonal skills that include the ability to interact with people in a variety of circumstances, often under pressure, are a necessity.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The ability to understand, follow and explain procedures and to perform under pressure while maintaining accuracy, speed and a pleasant disposition are also essential. This employee must exercise extensive skills in the areas of personal judgment, application of a wide variety of policies and procedures, interpretation of client needs and interpretation and application of University policies.
