Admissions Officer

Hours: Monday to Friday 40 hours a week, 8am-4pm, 52 weeks Start date: October 2026 (where possible) Your new school Gretton School welcomes autistic children and young people aged from 5-19 years old, as weekly boarders or as day learners. Every learner at Gretton has a diagnosis of Autism, and the ability to learn at or above the level of their mainstream peers, but require a specialist setting in order to achieve their remarkable potential.

As autism specialists, we understand that consistent daily routines and staffing helps to keep anxiety at a minimum and ensures that our learners feel safe and confident in their surroundings. We have a high staff to learner ratio and classes are small and personal - we know each of our learners really well and employ the best strategies to support them in their everyday school life. Your new role As Admissions Officer, you will coordinate and support the learner assessment and admissions process from initial referral through to successful transition into school. You will work closely with senior leaders, parents, local authorities and external professionals to ensure every referral is managed efficiently and professionally.

Key responsibilities will include: Reviewing referral documentation, including EHCPs and supporting evidence. Coordinating assessment visits and admission assessment days throughout the year. Liaising with parents and local authorities, providing updates and responding to enquiries. Preparing assessment reports, offer letters and admissions documentation. Maintaining accurate records within the school's Management Information System (MIS).

Supporting learner transitions and onboarding processes for new starters. Producing admissions data and reports for leadership and governance purposes. Providing professional administrative support across admissions, referrals, tribunals and wider school operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys coordinating complex processes, building positive relationships and helping families navigate specialist education provision What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this Admissions Officer role, you will ideally have: GCSE English and Maths (Grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent.

Experience using administrative and clerical systems, including web-based management information systems. Strong organisational, literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with parents, colleagues, local authorities and young people. The ability to manage sensitive conversations professionally, patiently and tactfully. A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting children and young people.

A resilient, conscientious and proactive approach to work.Experience within education, knowledge of autism, understanding of GDPR and familiarity with Google Suite would be advantageous.
