Job summary The Ministry of Defence, Civil Service workforce is diverse, with many different functions and professions ranging from cyber and digital transformation, police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers, psychologists, storekeepers, and policy secretariat staff to support the British Army. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description The post holder is responsible to the Quartermaster (QM) and Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant (RQMS) for supporting a range of logistical and administrative activities, contributing to the effective and efficient operation of the department.
Key responsibilities: Provide administrative and clerical support to the Quartermaster (QM) Department, including support to the Chain of Command. Manage arrival, transfer and discharge procedures, ensuring records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner. Support weekly and monthly administrative close-down procedures. Undertake general office duties, including managing post, photocopying and document preparation.
Maintain office supplies and departmental publications. Manage departmental archives and monitor document retention, expiry and destruction requirements. Complete training and operate new and emerging systems as required. Assist with audit preparation and support audit activity as required. Complete the Inventory User Course and any additional mandatory online training. Act as the departmental demander for Contracting, Purchasing and Finance (CP&F) activities.
Process and manage spectacle prescription requests on behalf of the department. Provide administrative support to help address logistical shortfalls when directed by the Quartermaster (QM) or Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant (RQMS). Person specification Essential skills required: Experience working in an administrative, clerical or business support role. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload.
Good IT skills, such as Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good attention to detail. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
