This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Accountant looking to develop their accounting experience within a supportive and commercially focused finance function. The successful Assistant Accountant will gain broad exposure across management accounts, month-end, reconciliations and a range of day-to-day accounting responsibilities. Assistant Accountant Responsibilities Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts Posting journals, accruals and prepayments Completing balance sheet and control account reconciliations Assisting with month-end and year-end processes Investigating financial variances and providing supporting analysis Preparing financial reports and management information Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions Completing regular bank reconciliations Assisting with cash flow reporting and forecasting Supporting the preparation of budgets and forecasts Maintaining accurate accounting records and financial data Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory requirements Supporting internal and external audit processes Investigating and resolving finance queries Working closely with non-finance departments across the business Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and controls Providing wider support to the finance team as required Assistant Accountant Experience Required To be successful in your application, you must have the following: Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or similar accounting role Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping Experience with journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations Previous exposure to management accounts and month-end processes Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting systems Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Strong communication skills A proactive approach and genuine desire to progress within accountancy Desirable: AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA Experience within a commercial finance environment Budgeting and forecasting experience VAT experience Fixed asset accounting experience Experience using an ERP/accounting system Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP What’s on Offer?
