We support our trainees with professional development and research opportunities to grow in self-efficacy and reach their career goals as they explore and augment their personal wellness.Medical residency and fellowship programs provide future physicians with a wide range of inpatient and outpatient clinical training experiences, as well as opportunities to engage in medical research and scholarly activity.

Currently, the Indiana University School of Medicine sponsors 215 residency and fellowship programs across the state, supporting approximately 1,520 residents and fellows who are training in a wide variety of medical and surgical specialties.Job Summary The Assistant Director for Program Quality and Development serves as a strategic leader within the Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME), advancing institutional priorities related to program quality, operational excellence, administrative effectiveness, and statewide program development.

This position plays a key role in fostering coordinated and integrated GME operations across Indiana University School of Medicine as sponsoring institution, regional campuses, affiliated hospitals, and training programs. The individual in this role serves in an advisory, facilitative, and coaching capacity as it relates to continuous improvement for the general responsibilities executed by personnel at the department or program level.Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesWorks collaboratively with institutional leadership, hospital executives, regional campus leaders, program leadership, and university partners to provide consultation, guidance, and operational leadership to ensure alignment with accreditation standards, institutional priorities, and evolving workforce and healthcare needs.Serves as a recognized subject matter expert in GME operations, accreditation compliance, and program administration.Leads efforts to evaluate and strengthen statewide partnerships, assess opportunities for program expansion, and supports the integration of newly accredited and developing programs into a cohesive statewide GME structure.Functions with a high degree of autonomy and independent judgment and serves as an institutional resource for program leadership, coordinators, and affiliated stakeholders throughout the state.Provides statewide leadership for residency and fellowship programs by partnering with university, hospital, and program leaders to ensure program quality, accreditation compliance, operational effectiveness, and sustainable growth.Provides strategic leadership for the statewide program coordinator workforce, overseeing onboarding, professional development, mentoring, and engagement initiatives while promoting collaboration, best practices, and operational excellence.Provides strategic leadership for institution-wide initiatives that improve operational effectiveness, drive continuous improvement, and support organizational goals across the GME enterprise.Provides leadership and oversight for assigned staff and project personnel, fostering accountability, collaboration, innovation, and professional growth in support of departmental and institutional goals.General ResponsibilitiesInstructs students and residents on surgical skills, how to understand nutrition and total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and on other core knowledge and skills.Teaches how to optimize medical service efficiency, including improving physical examination skills and conducting patient assessments or documentation.Provides formative feedback
