About the Department The Department of Information and Decision Sciences in the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) focuses on operations management, analytics and artificial intelligence, and information systems.
The department faculty oversee a PhD program, several master's programs, and an undergraduate major, as well as teach courses in the full-time MBA program and other college-wide programs. Tenure-track faculty in the department routinely publish in top-tier journals in operations management, as well as collaborate with industry and other colleges in the university. Job Summary The IDS department invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Operations Management starting in the 2027-2028 academia year. Preference will be given to applicants whose research focuses on an applied domain such as health care, transportation, energy and sustainability, and the interface of AI and supply chain management. Duties & Responsibilities Conduct high-quality research in operations management and related fields.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in supply chain and operations management and related analytics areas. Interact effectively with students, industry partners, and the broader community. Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. (completed or near completion by the start date) in Management Science, Operations Management, Operations Research, or a closely related field. A strong research record and ability and interest to teach supply chain and operations management courses.
Preferred Qualifications Research focus on an applied domain such as health care, transportation, energy and sustainability, and the interface of AI and supply chain management. Interest in engaging with industry partners and contributing to experiential learning.
