Are you ready to make a difference?Job Summary As a member of the Underwriting team, evaluates and underwrites insurance risks within the 10-999 life segment, balancing risk assessment with profitable business growth objectives. Builds and maintains strong relationships with producers, field partners, and internal stakeholders while delivering responsive customer service and underwriting expertise.

Applies underwriting guidelines, company procedures, and state regulatory requirements to support sound business decisions. Contributes to departmental initiatives, mentors peers, and supports projects that drive operational excellence and portfolio performance.*This role requires the ability to travel once per year.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and underwrite insurance risks within the 10-999 life market segment, ensuring sound risk selection and profitable business outcomes.Build and maintain effective relationships with producers, field partners, and internal teams to support business growth and customer satisfaction.Apply underwriting policies, procedures, and state regulatory requirements to make accurate and compliant underwriting decisions.Participate in training, knowledge-sharing, and mentoring activities to support team development and strengthen underwriting capabilities.Contribute to departmental projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and achieve organizational goals.We are considering candidates at the Associate Underwriter or Underwriter levels based on qualifications and experience.Skills and Background You’ll Need Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Higher education is preferred.Associate UnderwriterExperience: 1-2 years of experience in underwriting or similar analytical roleStrong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).Familiarity with state insurance statutes, regulations, and contract provisions preferred.Underwriter, Supplemental AccountsExperience: 3+ years of relevant underwriting experience.In-depth experience managing more complex underwriting cases and risk assessments.Strong expertise in analyzing financial and risk data for a variety of cases.Experience in working with multiple departments to assess and resolve more complex cases.Proven ability to handle high-level decision-making with minimal supervision.Ability to mentor or guide less experienced team members.Key Behaviors of a Successful Candidate Driving Success: Acts with urgency, pursues ambitious goals and shows resilience in the face of obstacles and setbacks.
