Bank Community Children's Occupational Therapist

We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic Band 7 Bank Community Children's Occupational Therapists to join our Staff Bank, supporting services across both acute and community settings. As a Bank Community Children's Occupational Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work within diverse and rewarding services, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care across hospital and community environments., To provide an advanced standard of occupational therapy assessment, treatment, management and advice to paediatric patients aged 0-19, their families and carers within the community setting.

The caseload consists of children with a wide range of development difficulties and/or disabilities, many of whom may have very complex or multiple pathologies. To work as alone practitioner, unsupervised, and at times in conjunction with less senior team colleagues across a variety of locations within the community including patients homes, schools, clinics, to meet the needs of the individual child.

State registered Occupational Therapist (Health Professional Council) Recognised training course for an Occupational therapist. Continued Professional Development Portfolio including evidence of reflective practice, in-service training, course attended and clinical experience gained. Knowledge of OT models of practice, Previous experience of working in community and/or education settings. Previous experience of paediatrics at a band 6 level with post registration experience of paediatrics including neurodevelopment/neurology paediatrics.

Highly specialist knowledge of Autism Related disorders. Experience of contributing to Education and Health care Plans Sound knowledge and experience of a wide range of paediatric neuro- developmental, developmental and neurological conditions at a band 6 level. Knowledge and experience of a wide range of assessment and treatment techniques for paediatric neuro development. Experience of standardised assessments in paediatrics A working knowledge of normal child development.

Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning skills in relation to treatment and assessment of paediatric clients. Experience of multidisciplinary team working and multi agency working. Experience of managing other occupational therapists/ support staff. Teaching in a clinical setting. Student supervision/clinical education., Experience of attending and presenting at SEN Tribunal and/or Educational Health Care Planning meetings Additional training in outcomes to support Education Health Care Plans Experience of assessing and using specialist paediatric equipment.

Experience of research/ audit or project work. Experience of Service development. Experience of lecturing externally. Experience of working as a qualified OT in the NHS. Experience of working as a qualified OT in schools., Able to organise and manage own caseload, and delegate to less senior members of staff. Able to work without direct supervision. Able to make good written records and reports. Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner.

Able to assess neurological conditions. Able to formulate care programmes, and identify goals. Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession. Understanding of the Special Education Needs Legislation and SEND reform. Understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection. Physically fit and able to comply with Trust Manual Handling Guidelines, and carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day.
