About the Role: The CAD/BIM Operator is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality technical drawings and models in support of VDA's Design Services department. This role supports project managers, engineers, and consultants by creating 2D sketches and layouts, and 3D models of vertical transportation equipment. The CAD/BIM Operator ensures drawings comply with internal standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities: Create 2D drawings of vertical transportation elements (primarily elevators and escalators), utilizing AutoCAD software and VDA standardsDrawings include plans, sections, elevations, and detailsCreate 3D models of vertical transportation systems, utilizing Revit softwareCoordinate BIM models with architectural firms and other tradesProduce plan and section sheets from BIM modelsRevise 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models based on redlines, sketches, and direction from the consultantsCoordinate drawing content with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical backgroundsMaintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and version control throughout the project lifecycleAssist with the preparation of design submission packagesGather research data from manufacturersSupport standardization efforts including templates, blocks, layers, and drafting proceduresOrganize and maintain project files in accordance with company document control practicesCommunicate effectively with internal team members to clarify scope, deadlines, and technical inputPerform other drafting and design-support tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field2-5 years of professional CAD drafting experienceProficiency in AutoCADProficiency in Revit and BIM Collaboration ToolsStrong understanding of drafting standards, layering conventions, and document coordinationWorking knowledge of load calculations.Must be able to recognize when calculated load outputs are unreasonable or orders of magnitude outside expected values.
