We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Camp Counsellor. Reporting to the Camp Supervisor, the Camp Counsellor plays a key role in delivering safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for children participating in the Kids Explorer Camp. This role supports daily camp operations, leads fun and age-appropriate activities, supervises children during games and playtime, and ensures a warm, welcoming environment that reflects Fairmont's commitment to exceptional family experiences.
Key Responsibilities Guest & Child Experience Welcome children and families, ensuring a friendly, inclusive, and comfortable camp environment. Actively supervise children at all times during games, arts and crafts, outdoor play, free play, and structured programming. Engage children with enthusiasm, creativity, and encouragement to ensure a positive experience. Support children of varying ages and abilities, promoting confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment.
Communicate courteously with parents/guardians when assisting with check-in/check-out or sharing daily highlights. Activity Support & Program Delivery Lead and assist with daily camp activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, storytelling, nature walks, and themed adventures. Prepare materials, supplies, and activity stations as instructed by the Camp Supervisor. Participate in special events, holiday programs, or resort-wide recreational initiatives.
Adapt activities to suit different age groups, group sizes, or weather conditions. Safety, Supervision & Child Well-Being Maintain active supervision, ensuring constant line of sight and awareness of all children. Follow all child safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and incident-reporting protocols. Ensure camp spaces, toys, and equipment are safe, clean, and hazard-free before and after activities.
Support secure check-in/check-out processes in coordination with the Camp Supervisor. Facility & Resource Management Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming camp environment throughout the day. Assist in setting up and breaking down activity areas. Monitor supply levels (craft materials, games, toys) and notify the Camp Supervisor when replenishment is needed. Team Support & Communication Work collaboratively with the Camp Supervisor and Recreation team to deliver smooth daily operations.
Participate in daily briefings to understand schedules, safety expectations, and programming needs. Provide timely feedback or observations regarding child needs, guest feedback, or safety concerns. Administration Assist with attendance tracking, daily reports, and documentation as directed. Report any incidents, injuries, or behavioral concerns immediately to the Camp Supervisor. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Experience in hospitality or guest activities is an asset. Education High school diploma required.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Competencies, Knowledge & Skills Ability to lead and supervise groups of children in a variety of activities. Strong communication skills and a friendly, child-focused demeanor. Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic, with a passion for play-based learning. Reliable, organized, and able to follow instructions and safety protocols.
