The Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. We have several research specialities and the Respiratory Research Portfolio is looking for 2 Clinical Trials Assistants. They are both full time posts (1.0 WTE), fixed term contracts due to associated funding.

One post is for 16 months, one for 14 months. Your primary site will be SJUH, but you will be predominantly required to work across Leeds, remotely and visiting patients in their homes. The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination, and delivery of the Yorkshire Cancer Research funded YorQuit study , working alongside the Respiratory research and the Lung screening teams. The main tasks are: Patient approach and recruitment, visiting patients at home for data and assessments, data inputting , co-ordinating patient follow ups as per protocol and research governance.

A driving license and access to own car is essential. In addition of being responsible for ensuring that high standards of trial delivery, patient safety, and patient satisfaction are maintained, compliance with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, GCP and local and national guidance and legislation is required. What you will bring to the role We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual with a keen interest in research and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care . The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, have experience speaking to the public and the ability to build effective working relationships with patients, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Although you will sit within the Respiratory Research team, you will manage your own workload and work closely with the Lung Cancer Screening clinical team. The successful candidate will be, able to manage competing priorities, work independently visiting patients at home , and maintain a high level of attention to detail. A proactive approach and enthusiasm for improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice is essential.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to develop their research skills through formal and experiential learning, supervision, mentoring and peer support. The post holder will be confident managing data and have basic IT skills with a willingness to learn and develop other clinical skills. Experience working within the NHS with a familiarity of NHS systems and databases would be advantageous, however applications are welcomed from individuals with a genuine interest in developing a career in research.
