This role sits within HITT's Industrial group, which delivers new construction, renovations, expansions, and fit-outs across distribution centers, warehouses, manufacturing, aviation, automotive, mission critical, advanced manufacturing, central utility plants, and other complex industrial facilities nationwide. This position supports a newly awarded industrial campus in Hurt, VA. The Superintendent provides leadership and serves as the liaison between project team members to promote the interest of both the business and clients in all matters, as well as demonstrate the characteristics of a mid-level leader.
The Superintendent communicates project priorities to site staff and all subcontractors, serving as the primary leader on site for the construction project.Project OverviewNewly secured project in southern Virginia supporting a growing industrial market in the regionLarge-scale, long-duration build (100+ weeks) with an established site team structure, including multiple superintendents, assistant superintendents, project managers, and APMsSite setup and mobilization underway now, with groundbreaking next monthBacked by HITT's broader Industrial platform, which collaborates with project stakeholders to develop focused action plans that bring complex projects online as fast and safely as possible.Growth opportunity within HITT's Industrial group, which also covers advanced manufacturing, mission critical, energy, power generation, and heavy civil workOut-of-town assignment with per diem support for the duration of the projectResponsibilitiesUnderstand and administer the HITT safety program across all subcontractors, ensuring prompt reporting/investigation of incidents and assisting with outside agency inspectionsMaintain HITT quality standards for all aspects of the projectMaintain daily logs of activities and site conditions, manage the punch list, and drive the closeout process through owner/architect acceptanceWork with the project manager to formulate the project schedule, ensuring proper installation methods and sequencing, and following through on schedule commitmentsMaintain strong working relationships with all subcontractors, ensuring fair treatment and building goodwill within the local communityEnsure accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets, understand subcontractor scope to avoid unnecessary change orders, and identify/resolve problems earlyDevelop and organize the site team, arrange temporary facilities/utilities, and identify/expedite long-lead itemsCollaborate with the project manager and site team throughout the project, working within a larger, multi-tiered site organizationQualificationsFour-year degree in construction, engineering, or business strongly preferred; additional work experience accepted in lieu of a degree5+ years' experience in commercial or industrial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractorExperience working within a large team environment on a collaborative site teamLayout, surveying, or trade experience a plusTenant renovations, service work, occupied-space work, weekend/fast-paced project experience all a plusMastery of building processes and best practices on complex industrial facilitiesAbility to organize people, tools, and time to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired resultsProject lead/superintendent experience preferred, with strong, schedule-driven leadership abilityProfic
