We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, campaign for the rights of people affected by dementia and fund vital dementia research.What you’ll doThis is an exciting leadership role with a clear purpose: to grow, develop and improve Alzheimer Scotland’s community fundraising and events activity across Scotland.

You will play a key role in delivering the Fundraising & Engagement strategy by supporting more individuals, groups, volunteers, local organisations, colleagues and communities to fundraise effectively for Alzheimer Scotland.As Community and Events Lead, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Alzheimer Scotland’s community fundraising and events channels. You will translate organisational and Fundraising & Engagement objectives into clear plans, budgets, KPIs, workplans and delivery priorities, ensuring community fundraising and events activity is well planned, well supported and focused on meaningful results.You will lead and develop a high-performing team, line managing two Events Officers and a Community Officer.

You will ensure community fundraising, third-party events, and Alzheimer Scotland-led events are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed objectives.You will lead and grow community fundraising activity by individuals, groups, clubs, small businesses and community organisations. A key part of the role will be helping others to fundraise well: providing the tools, encouragement, expertise, stewardship and follow-up that enable supporters, volunteers, local teams and community groups to turn ideas and goodwill into successful fundraising activity.You will lead the community and events aspects of national fundraising and engagement programmes, including Memory Walk, Tea & Blether and future initiatives.

You will help increase community engagement, awareness and participation, while ensuring activity is delivered safely, consistently and with excellent supporter and volunteer stewardship.Working closely with colleagues across Fundraising & Engagement, Communications and operational teams, you will support appropriate communications and promotional activity for Community & Events work, strengthen supporter journeys and help local service delivery teams identify and develop community fundraising opportunities in their areas.You will oversee third-party events and associated supplier relationships, ensuring challenge events and externally organised opportunities are delivered safely, profitably and with excellent supporter stewardship.

You will manage income and expenditure budgets, monitor performance and use data, insight and post-activity evaluation to improve effectiveness, supporter experience and return on investment.This role combines strategic thinking with practical delivery.What you’ll haveYou will bring experience in one or more relevant fundraising channels, such as community fundraising, supporter-led fundraising, events or participation-based activity.

More importantly, you will be able to demonstrate that you have led people or teams to deliver fundraising activity effectively, bringing sound judgement, a strong understanding of how fundraising works, and the knowledge of regulation, compliance and good practice needed to shape activity that is safe, appropriate and likely to succeed.You will have experience of planning, delivering and evaluating community fundraising activity, events, campaigns or programmes, and be able to show how you have improved activity, strengthened participation and delivered measurable outcomes.You will have demonstratable experience of enabling others to fundraise successfully, not just delivering activity yourself.
