Working within a multidisciplinary model, provide psychiatric input to the community as a senior member of the team.

Clinical responsibility for patients in their care, including assessment and ongoing management. Advice and support to medical, nursing and other disciplines within the catchment area upon all aspects of the psychiatry of learning disability. Provide specialist psychiatric advice to GP's, carers and establishments involved in the provisions of support to people with learning disabilities in the catchment area.

Act as Approved Clinician (AC) and Responsible Clinician (RC) in accordance with the requirements under the MHA (1983) and its amendments including carrying out Mental Health Act assessments, acting as the Responsible Clinician for patients on Supervised Community Treatment orders, and preparation of Mental Health Act reports for those patients. Maintain accurate clinical notes and records, including effective and appropriate written communication in line with professional and Trust guidance.

To provide information and guidance for patients and carers. To contribute to in house training, team and peer supervision. To provide up to date clinical reports on patient care to all relevant agencies involved in the care planning as required.
