Consultant Psychiatrist Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust•Peterborough, United Kingdom Job summary The Post Provide Consultant leadership and psychiatric input into the Recovery Ward at the Cavell Centre. Work with the multidisciplinary team to support people following the acute phase of illness, with a focus on recovery, rehabilitation, therapeutic engagement, relapse prevention, safe discharge planning and strengthening linked with community services.
The post will involve close working relationships with the Modern Matron, nurse specialists and team managers. There will be opportunities to take on management responsibilities both internally within the Trust as well as externally with the Royal College. Mentoring will also be provided to help the new consultant settle in. The Consultants work in accordance with the New Ways of Working initiative for consultants and attend regular MDT, formulation, discharge planning and pathway meetings.
The role will include working closely with patients, carers, care coordinators, community mental health teams, crisis and home treatment services, housing and social care partners, and other statutory and voluntary agencies to support recovery and save transition from hospital to the community. Main duties of the job Consultant Psychiatrists are a valuable and finite resource within our clinical services and whilst the primary responsibility for every consultant is the delivery of a high-quality clinical service all consultants will be expected to be actively involved in the strategic development of the service and work with their non-medical senior leaders to steer the development of their service in line with the strategic direction of the organisation.

Clinical leadership, innovation and service performance are key components to all our consultant positions. We will provide the necessary training and development opportunities for all Consultants joining the Trust to ensure they are able to deliver these components of their role. Inpatient consultants across the Cavell Centre wards work closely together, providing cross cover for leave and SPA time, and offering mutual support and clinical input across the pathway.
The Recovery Ward has junior doctor support through specialty doctors, higher trainees, core trainees and FY trainees. Supervision of resident doctors and contribution to training are therefore key parts of the role.
