Job Summary COO - OPS - Institutions Operations Correctional Sergeant I (S) Salary Range: $37,377 - $65,408 The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws.
This position is located at Roanoke River Correctional Institution with a duty assignment to the minimum custody facility. Work in this class provides first-line supervision for Correctional Officer I's in a minimum custody facility. Employee supervises officer activities and performance and ensures that the custody, security, and welfare of inmates is maintained. Employee conducts shift line-up, makes shift assignments to include duty area and post; and inspects all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
This position will complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. This position will account for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready and implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy. At this level, employees may supervise inmates in restrictive housing.
