Full Time MPR/UPR TLR 2b WE CANNOT PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS POSITION We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Curriculum Leader of Art with a love for their subject to join our vibrant and supportive team. There are currently four specialist teachers who enjoy a range of adaptive teaching approaches, both contributing to the academic and pastoral life of the school. The Art Department is a strong department which consistently achieves good outcomes.
We offer Fine Art, 3D Art, Textile Art and Photography. A well-resourced department; the subject is taught in three well-equipped, specialist art rooms, one of which houses a kiln room. We also have two part-time Art Technicians working with the department. The Art department run excellent trips for pupils such as visits to the V&A and Warner Studio Tours. We are looking to appoint a colleague who will: Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge pupils in order for them to excel academically Have relentlessly high expectations of themselves and pupils Have excellent subject knowledge Be willing to teach across the full age range of pupils; year 7 to year 11 Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the department and wider school through sharing resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active participation in continuing professional studies programme Teach a standard timetable allocation (PPA and Leadership time assumed) Lead the efficient running of the curriculum area, including, setting and marking examinations, leading departmental meetings and undertaking administrative and other tasks, delegating as appropriate Actively safeguard and promote the health & safety, and welfare of children and staff Support the schools' aims and objectives for teaching and learning Adhere to and promote all school policies and procedures Person Specification: · Good degree in a directly related subject (essential) · Thorough knowledge of the (11-16) subject Curriculum up to GCSE · Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience · Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice regarding health & safety · Good level of IT literacy · Be capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of pupils at the school · Be able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with pupils · Excellent and effective classroom management skills · Have excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors · Be organised and self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines In return you can expect: Access to an exceptional Professional Studies Programme Access to Hampshire Local Authority, Subject Specific CPD and an in-house CPD To be part of a school which has a real 'team approach' where you will be valued and supported A well-resourced curriculum area including your own laptop Contribution to the Teacher's Pension Scheme Lifestyle discounts through our employee 'Lifestyle Savings Platform' Access to free counselling service via our provider 'Health Assured' Onsite parking A dedicated Teaching and Learning training room A staff room with complimentary refreshments and food provided on whole school events such as Parents' Evenings Application Procedure: Only applications using our HCC application form will be reviewed, we cannot accept CVs.
