The successful candidate will provide visible clinical and operational leadership, support workforce development, quality improvement and governance, and play a key role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate care. The role offers the opportunity to influence service development, lead change and contribute to the ongoing success and growth of Transplant and Urology services across Oxford University Hospitals., You will work closely with the Matron, Clinical Leads and multidisciplinary teams to provide leadership across Transplant and Urology services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care and an excellent patient experience.

The role supports operational management, workforce development, governance, quality improvement and patient safety, while helping to deliver the Directorate's strategic objectives. The Deputy Matron will provide senior leadership during periods of operational pressure, support patient flow, admission and discharge processes, and work collaboratively with clinical and site teams to identify and manage risks, maintain patient safety and ensure effective use of capacity.

The role is essential in supporting the operational management of the service, driving quality improvement, workforce development, governance and patient safety initiatives, while delivering the strategic objectives of the Directorate. The post holder will provide senior on-site leadership, particularly during periods of operational pressure, representing the service at operational meetings, working collaboratively with medical and nursing teams, and developing effective relationships with key stakeholders across the Trust.

The Deputy Matron will play a pivotal role in supporting patient flow across the specialty, ensuring timely admission, discharge and escalation processes are in place for transplant and urology patients. Working closely with site, operations and clinical teams, the post holder will help identify and address risks to patient care at the earliest opportunity, facilitating access to specialist input, diagnostics and treatment to prevent delays and reduce the risk of patient deterioration.
