Appointed under Council bylaw, the Deputy Treasurer/Tax Collector is a hands-on accounting role, which will assist the Township to oversee the financial management of the organization, ensuring compliance with bylaws, policies and regulations, and ensuring the accuracy of accounting and related information systems. This position will function as the backup to the Treasurer in their absence. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Manage all aspect of municipal property taxation and collection, payment in lieu, transfers, assessment, arrears, tax write-offs and tax sales, supplementary tax billings, while ensuring compliance with all relevant provincial regulations.

Acts as Municipal Representative at Assessment Review Board Appeals. Water utility billing and collection General accounts payables, receivables, billing, and collection Payroll and benefits administration – including statutory remittances, records of employment, T4s, benefit plans, pension reporting, WSIB, and EHT requirements. Assist in annual budget preparation, coordination, and review Assist in the preparation of audit files and working papers for external auditors Other duties assigned include acting as the Treasurer during absences.

This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a municipal environment and a commitment to continuous education.

Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or related fields. Certificate in Municipal Revenue Administration is preferred. Working towards certification as a Chartered Professional Accountant is an asset. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a municipal corporate treasury role. Proven experience in the administration of Ontario municipal property taxes and assessment appeals, including providing front-line customer service to residential ratepayers.

High level of proficiency with all Microsoft applications, particularly excel and accounting systems such as Keystone. Excellent analysis and research skills, with proven ability to define and solve complex financial and business problems requiring quantitative, qualitative and process analysis to assist in the management of financial information The successful candidate will be asked for the following: Proof of your authorization to work in Canada.

Verification of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications. Ontario Driver’s License abstract. Criminal Record Check. Compensation: The 2026 salary range for this position is $81,515 – $92,135 annually. The Township offers a comprehensive group benefits package and is OMERS employer. Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (35 hours per week). Location and Environment: Township Administration Office: 065371 Dufferin County Road 3, Unit 2, East Garafraxa, ON L9W 7J8 (near the boundary with Orangeville).
