The Private Finance Initiative Group (PFI) provide estate and infrastructure services through long term contracts (typically 20-35 years) and the projects are valued at some £20bn through life with annual budgets of £600M. We provide estates (Hard and Soft FM) services to some 35,000 military and civilian personnel at three strategic Headquarter sites (Main Building, Northwood and Corsham), HMS Drake in HMNB Devonport and garrisons in Colchester and Aldershot and across Salisbury Plain.
Job description Would you like to play a key role in supporting one of the Ministry of Defence's most important and high-profile locations? The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is responsible for managing and maintaining the Defence estate, enabling military personnel and Defence civilians to live, work, train and deploy. We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Facilities Manager to join our South East Region and Private Finance Initiatives team, supporting the Ministry of Defence Main Building in Central London.
This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will oversee the delivery of hard and soft facilities management services, provide assurance of contractual performance, engage with senior stakeholders and support the delivery of infrastructure projects within a complex operational environment. The role requires strong stakeholder management skills, sound judgement and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-profile setting.
This is a full-time position (37 hours per week). The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a visible on-site presence during normal business hours, engaging directly with customers, contractors and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and operational assurance. This role is not suitable for remote working. This role requires Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance. This vacancy is open to sole UK Nationals only.

As a Facilities Manager you will: • Manage the day-to-day delivery of hard and soft facilities management services through the MOD Main Building PFI contract. • Monitor contractor performance against contractual obligations and key performance indicators.
• Manage service delivery risks and resolve issues to minimise impact on customers and operational outputs. • Conduct assurance activities, compliance checks and service reviews to ensure statutory and contractual requirements are met. • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, industry partners, contractors and senior MOD stakeholders. • Provide estate and facilities management advice to support operational and business outcomes.
• Support the planning and delivery of infrastructure improvement projects, contract change, and customer-funded works. • Validate service performance and authorise contractual payments following audit and assurance checks. • Analyse management data and provide reports on service performance, risks and improvement opportunities. • Work collaboratively with commercial, finance and technical teams to ensure contractual compliance and value for money.
• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. • Represent DIO as a professional and visible ambassador within a high-profile Government environment.
