Volt is immediately hiring for 2nd shift Tool Room Manager - Die Casting & Manufacturing Operations w/ CNC Machining Experience in Brookfield, WI.As a 2nd Shift Tool Room Manager - Die Casting & Manufacturing Operations w/ CNC Machining Experience, you will: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the tool room and manufacturing facility. Ensure compliance with PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, crane and rigging standards, and all company safety policies.
Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and risk assessments. Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop tool and die makers, apprentices, and skilled trades employees. Provide performance feedback, support employee development, and coordinate training initiatives. Foster effective communication across departments and shifts. Lead by example while promoting accountability, engagement, and teamwork. Plan, assign, and prioritize daily workload to ensure maximum uptime and production efficiency.
Oversee the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of dies, molds, fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing equipment. Support manufacturing operations including high-pressure die casting (HPDC), aluminum casting, lost foam casting, investment casting, and machining processes. Ensure work is completed on time and in accordance with quality standards. Lead root cause investigations related to tooling failures, production issues, and quality concerns.
Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve tooling reliability and die life. Drive improvements in repair turnaround time, process efficiency, productivity, and overall shop performance. Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain tooling documentation, work instructions, inspection criteria, and maintenance records. Interpret engineering drawings, tooling prints, GD&T specifications, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues. This is a full-time opportunity.The ideal candidate will have: High school diploma or equivalent. Journeyman Tool & Die certification, associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent skilled trades certification. Minimum 5 years of experience in: Tool & Die Repair Die Maintenance CNC Machining Mold Repair High-Pressure Die Casting Tooling Manufacturing Tooling Operations Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, project leadership, or technical mentoring experience within a manufacturing environment.
Strong hands-on knowledge of: CNC machining Die fitting Tooling repair Welding Grinding Polishing Tool inspection Experience supporting die casting, aluminum casting, machining, or complex manufacturing operations. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems including maintenance management, work order, production tracking, and timekeeping software.
Excellent communication and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading skilled trades teams within a union manufacturing environment. Strong background in job shop scheduling, workforce planning, and resource allocation. Experience operating or supporting: 5-Axis CNC Machines EDM Equipment Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) Checking Fixtures Laser Scanning Technology Knowledge of: PPAP APQP FMEA Control Plans Engineering Change Management Lean Six Sigma certification or experience implementing Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
