Family or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner

Job Title: Correctional Nurse Practitioner Location: Grafton, OH 44044 Shift: Monday – Friday (No evenings, Weekends, or Holidays) Hours/Week: 40 Duration: Minimum 4 months (from projected start date) Key Responsibilities: • Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses and protocols for guidance. • Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows.

• Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions. • Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly. • Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate • Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled • Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable • Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate .

Required Qualifications and Skills: • Master’s degree in Nursing (Required). • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Ohio. • Minimum of one year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care or a related field. • Board Certification (Family or Adult-Gerontology NP preferred). • Current CPR/BLS certification for healthcare professionals.

• DEA certification (Required). • Ability to work effectively in a correctional or secure healthcare environment.
