Financial Analyst Location: Alpine, CA 91901 Schedule: Hybrid – Monday through Thursday onsite, Friday remote Pay Rate: $35-37/hour W-2 Employment Type: 1-year W2 Assignment Position Overview A leading Southern California utility company is seeking a Financial Analyst to support accounting and financial operations. This position will be responsible for reviewing O&M and capital costs, processing journal entries and accruals, approving vendor invoices, and ensuring financial activity is accurately recorded in accordance with FERC guidelines and SOX requirements.
Key Responsibilities Review monthly accounting reports to ensure O&M and capital costs are accurately allocated in accordance with FERC guidelines. Audit and approve vendor invoices for accuracy and SOX compliance. Prepare and process journal entries in SAP. Coordinate with vendors to obtain monthly accrual information. Prepare accrual documentation and submit information to Accounts Payable. Review financial dashboards to identify O&M costs that should be classified as capital.
Research and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, costs, accruals, and accounting transactions. Ensure adherence to established financial guidelines, accounting standards, and internal controls. Utilize Excel to review, recon Qualifications Accounting, finance, or related financial operations experience. Experience with invoice processing/approvals, accruals, journal entries, and cost review.
Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant work experience may substitute for a degree.
