Financial Project Controller | London (Hybrid) | £70,000 | Permanent The Opportunity If you're looking for an opportunity to influence the financial performance of a growing technology portfolio whilst working at the intersection of finance, innovation and operational delivery, this is the kind of role that offers genuine impact from day one. You'll join a business that has expanded through the acquisition of specialist technology companies operating across infrastructure monitoring, predictive maintenance, software and intelligent rail technologies.

These businesses are entering an exciting phase of growth, creating a need for a commercially minded Financial Project Controller who can provide financial leadership, operational insight and robust financial control across multiple business units. This is far more than a traditional finance role. You'll act as the finance partner to senior business leaders, taking responsibility for forecasting, budgeting, reporting and performance analysis whilst helping shape the future direction of several growing technology businesses.

Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you'll have the opportunity to influence commercial decision-making, support future growth initiatives and play a key role in developing businesses operating at the forefront of rail technology. The role would suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives in environments where no two days are the same, and is equally comfortable producing detailed financial analysis as they are challenging business leaders and influencing strategy.

Financial Project Controller Responsibilities Financial Control & Reporting: Developing robust financial reporting, ensuring reporting accuracy, maintaining financial controls and providing visibility of business performance across multiple technology businesses. Business Partnering: Working closely with senior operational leaders to provide financial insight, challenge assumptions, support decision-making and influence business performance.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes, ensuring stakeholders have clear visibility of business performance and future expectations. Project & Revenue Management: Supporting project accounting activities, revenue recognition, profitability analysis and financial management of multiple projects and business streams. Cash Flow & Working Capital: Monitoring cash flow, balance sheet positions and working capital performance to identify financial risks and opportunities.

Continuous Improvement: Supporting process improvements, financial efficiency initiatives, business integration activities and future growth projects. Ideal Financial Project Controller Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, with strong post-qualified experience within finance, commercial finance, project control or business partnering environments. Project-Based Environment Experience: Experience working within project-led, contract-led or consultancy-style organisations where forecasting, revenue recognition and project financial management are key components of the role.

Financial Planning & Analysis Skills: Strong budgeting, forecasting and reporting capability, alongside advanced Excel skills and financial modelling experience. Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to work effectively with operational, commercial and technical stakeholders, providing challenge and support where required. Adaptability & Resilience: Comfortable working within a changing environment, managing competing priorities and supporting business growth through periods of transformation.

Transferable Industry Experience: Candidates may come from rail, engineering, infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, professional services, consultancy, utilities or other project-based sectors.
